"Marry in blue, lover be true"
“Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.”
This popular English wedding rhyme consists of talisman meant to bring your marriage good luck. It also calls for fabulous accessories, as well as exciting and endearing gestures from close friends and families the day of!
“Something old” for continuity,
“something new” for a hopeful future,
“something borrowed” to remind you of support from married friends,
“something blue” is meant for purity,
and “sixpence in her shoe” is for financial security, and prosperity.
The color blue was used in ancient Rome to symbolize modesty, and fidelity. During the Victorian age when this rhyme arose, many brides dawned blue wedding gowns.
There are many ways to incorporate blue into your wedding day including jewelry, hair accessories, shoes, blue stitching, the list goes on. EAST SIX provides blue in lieu of invitations.
